Magnificent writer with magnificent stories to tell If there were books translated from Portuguese to my language or English I would read them because I m already a fanThere s nothing like stumbling upon a flawless prose it s like a river and you keep swimming through it And keep getting and emotionally involved without even noticing Caring for characters and stealing every free moment of your time to get back to them means you re dealing with an extraordinary writer who knows how to capture not only your thoughts but your emotions as well This particular subject of fleeing one s home rings so familiar especially with the present global situation and thousands of families being trapped in the midst of war chaos And Dulce Maria got this so right finding a way not only to tell the story about exodus but also to capture the little moments the life of things plants and animals left behind These are big stories and should be treated with attention It would be a five star novel for me but Dulce Maria chose a bit strange teenage boy narrative and it didn t always work uite well for me It would be much better if the story was written from his sister s perspective It would be credible I guess
